So
You're Thinking About Kauai!
This island gets it name from the fact that it
is green and lush from
Waimea
Canyon, the “Grand Canyon of the Pacific,” to the mists of Hanalei
Bay. Golfing, hiking, kayaking, and snorkeling are just a few of the
ways to enjoy Kauai’s splendor. Or the island can be explored by
walking along a white sand beach or learning about the diverse
cultures that contributed to Kauai’s history. With Stunning natural
beauty and people who embody the spirit of “Aloha”. Kauai is truly
“The Island of Discovery”
Which Part of
Kauai Is Best for You?
As in all of the Hawaiian islands,
each part of Kauai has its own unique weather. The north and east
coasts are the rainy sides of the islands. The south side is where
Lihue is located and is not too dry. The west side of island can tend
to be more on the dry side. Because of its higher latitude, Kauai
tends to get more rain island-wide. This is why it is known as the
Garden Island.
On Kauai, rain showers usually fall in
the evening and early morning hours, predominately over the mountain
ranges. Contrary to popular belief, it does not rain on Kauai all the
time--except on Mt. Waiaaleale (in the very center and top of the
island).
Princeville
- Kauai’s secluded north shore, this area is surrounded by lush
tropical splendor and quiet luxury. Tends to be rainier here than on
the southern end. If you enjoy seeing whales, you’re sure to love this
area. They can be seen right from your resort window!
Kapa /
Wailua - This
is where you will find Kauai’s premier shopping center with many
specialty shops and restaurants. If want to enjoy the beauty of Hawaii
but still want to be close to amenities, this is the area for you.
Nearby Lydgate State Park, provides the best swimming and snorkeling
beach on the east side. Start here for the famous riverboat tours to
the Fern Grotto. Golf is located nearby.
Lihue - This is a great central location,
close to sightseeing, shopping, dining and golf. Airport is located
here as well.
Waimea
- This is your ultimate “off-the-beaten-path” destination located on
the southwestern shore of Kauai close to the road
to Waimea Canyon. Experience complete privacy and a true taste
of the past in rural Hawaii. The area is also home
of a beautiful black sand beach.
