Why Do Airfares Prices Fluctuate?

There are numerous reasons for this. If the availability of flights is low, the price goes up. We all know that gas prices rising can cause a price increase. When the airplane is empty, an airline wants to fill it so they will often discount prices. But as the plane fills up, the prices will also rise, especially after the airline reaches their “break even” point. When a flight is profitable, airlines can afford to charge higher prices because it is no longer mandatory for them to sell more tickets in order to make money. With this knowledge, you want to book your flight as soon as you know for sure that you are coming. This will often give you a better price.

But What If You Need to Make Some Changes?

Have you ever gone to one of those automated Internet travel sites, filled in all the blanks for your flight, been ready to click on the "Buy" button, only to read those scary words: All Sales are Final! Just in case you need to cancel, the whole amount (minus the cost of the insurance) will be refunded. You can make changes or cancel for any reason through the last business day before departure without paying penalties. AND, you receive a refund for any decrease in the package price.
